This Fall, BGHS will offer a 2nd round of its groundbreaking Mental Health First Aid training program, free of charge, to the Valley community.  The training will help participants identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. To learn more, call 203-736-8566.

BGHS (and its CommuniCare partner agencies) recently received two grants to provide primary care integration services and tobacco cessation services to persons with mental health and/or substance abuse disorders. The primary care initiative is already in full swing at the organization, while the tobacco cessation program will be officially launched this fall.

to the Birmingham Group Health Services, Inc. (BGHS) website.  BGHS is a state licensed, non-profit behavioral health care provider located in Ansonia, Connecticut, serving the citizens of the Lower Naugatuck Valley and surrounding communities.

One out of every five Americans suffers from some form of mental illness.  Each year, thousands of families are shattered by domestic violence and substance abuse, and still countless others are affected by HIV/AIDS.  For over 25 years, BGHS has been providing hope and help for children, families and individuals affected by these issues.  On these pages, you'll find a wealth of information about our mental health, domestic violence, HIV/AIDS, and substance abuse treatment, rehabilitation, advocacy, prevention, and education services, as well as valuable information about our partnerships, volunteer opportunities, fundraising and special events, and giving programs.
